Tax Year

1st July to 30th June.

Taxable Income

Income that is subject to taxation.

Term Deposit

A fixed interest investment which offers a fixed rate of return at the end of a set period of time (usually short or medium term).

Time Horizon

The length of time before you want to access the money tied up in your investment.

Top-Down Approach

An approach to investing in which the investor first looks at general trends in the economy and then chooses specific industries and particular companies that will benefit from these broad trends.

Total Return

The return  on an investment, including income from dividends  and interest, as well as appreciation or depreciation in the price of the security, over a given time period.

Trust Deed

A legal document conveying ownership and rules for the establishment and operation of a superannuation fund or non-registered scheme.
