Negative Gearing: The purchase of an investment using borrowed funds, where the interest on the borrowing exceeds the income derived from the investment. For tax purposes, this negative net income can be offset against income gained from other sources.
Net Tangible Assets (NTA): The total net assets of a company, minus any intangible assets such as goodwill, patents and trademarks. In a managed investment net tangible assets are calculated by dividing the value of the assets of the managed investment scheme by the number of units on issue.
