Hedge: An investment strategy used to offset risk - an investment made specifically to reduce or cancel out risk in another investment. E.g. investing in non-Australian securities to reduce currency risk.
Hedge Fund: A professionally managed investment in which the manager is able to use a number of higher risk investment techniques, such as borrowing money and selling short, in order to deliver positive returns independent of returns from traditional asset classes.
Historical Yield: The actual yield or return from an investment over a given period, measured from the beginning of the period.
