Gearing: An investment strategy where an investor borrows money to invest. Also known as leveraging.
Growth Assets: Assets that are characterised by higher risk and can be used to generate greater returns in a portfolio.
Growth Fund: A fund that is designed to provide above-average returns by taking above-average risks. Typically a growth fund will have a relatively high percentage of its funds invested in growth assets such as shares.
Growth Investing: An investment approach which focuses on investing in shares of companies whose earnings are growing rapidly and are likely to continue growing.
